Enjoy the snow until we return to school. Thankful that the days so far will not be make up days since we have been tracked out.
While you are snowed in - it would be a good idea to look over high school information and begin to think about courses that interest you. Check the website of the high school you are planning to attend next year and look at the high school planning guide available on wcpss.net. Currently the 2017-18 guide is available for review. Read to find out about Graduation Requirements and a description of required couses. Please check for updates in early February. Interims will be sent home by Thursday after school. Students and parents should look at the interim for strengths and areas to improve. If there are missing assignments, one way to improve is to write down assignments in the agenda every night and check them off in the agenda when they are turned in. Missing assignments will cause a student to fail. Every assignment is an opportunity to improve the grade, unless it is not completed and turned in. With just over 3 weeks left in the quarter, it's time to make every effort!

Look for patterns - is there missing work? Are test/quiz grades lower? Set a goal based on what you see. For example, write down assignments every day and turn in every assignment on time (if you see a pattern of missing assignments.) “All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible.” —Orison Swett Marden If you are an 8th grader interested in the Early Colleges in Wake County - be sure to read about each of them on www.wcpss.net
